Godfrey Hotel

The site on West Huron Street in Chicago originally began as a different hotel project in the mid 2000s by using a staggered steel truss structural system — something not previously common in Chicago. Construction started in 2007 but halted in 2008 due to financing issues during the Great Recession

In 2011, Oxford Capital Group acquired the stalled project, taking on the challenge of repurposing it into an upscale lifestyle hotel. This redevelopment involved re envisioning the unfinished steel structure while retaining its expressive architectural frame

The Godfrey Hotel Chicago is now considered a landmark for its bold architectural statement and is a key part of a wave of life-style hotel development in Chicago.
