The Sheraton was built in 1973 as part of a larger mixed-use complex that included an office tower and retail center then known as Macy’s Plaza in the Financial District of downtown Los Angeles. It was developed as a full-service, business-oriented hotel to serve visitors to the growing urban core.
Since reopening as Sheraton Grand Los Angeles in the 2000’s, the hotel’s design and service have focused on upscale business and leisure travelers.
It features modernized amenities including extensive meeting space, rooftop terraces and outdoor event areas, and refreshed dining experiences, aligning with Sheraton’s global strategy to elevate guest experience under the Sheraton Grand label.
The hotel plays a role in the broader revitalization of downtown Los Angeles, particularly the Financial District and surrounding entertainment, convention, and cultural destinations. Its proximity to major venues like the Los Angeles Convention Center reflects its ongoing importance to the urban hospitality landscape.
Contraxx built the gigantic (21’H) walnut cabinet system in the lobby/bar area and over-saw its installation. This stately entry is one of the more unique public areas in the city and continues to fascinate travelers from around the world.
